The other night I had the good fortune of meeting with Dr John DeMartini for a couple of hours while he was was between flights in Sydney on his way to New Zealand.

I almost wasn’t going to go. I thought to myself  ‘not another self help Guru’ trying to sell me a weekend coaching program or home study course.

But I’d been struggling to find purpose in my life after dissolving my network marketing business in June this year and something inside told me that I should go… and besides these events are a great place to network and meet like minded people right?

This guy was told by his first grade teachers that he would never amount to much, since he had dyslexia and couldn’t read nor comprehend what he was learning in school and left home at age 14 to hitch hike his way to Hawaii where surfed and hung out until he met a mentor who tapped him into his potential.

He went back to high school, went to college and became a doctor and has spent the last 37 years studying everything to do with human potential from Abraham Masloes theory’s of personality and motivation through to the what drives the great leaders to change the course of history and the world.

So his colourful background made for an entertaining speach I will say that.

Dr John DeMartini is all about getting you to ‘Break Through’ to discovering what your PURPOSE IN LIFE is that has brought you into this world.

And isn’t that what most of us want right?… to find purpose in our lives.

Most people on planet earth live in 1 of the 6 phases of life. The first 4 are “Self Orientated” meaning that they are all about ourselves. It is only when we can transcend the first 4 phases that our life has meaning, we feel fullfilled, we are serving others and we are on purpose.

1) Survival and Self: Food, clothing, shelter and reproduction are all that is of concern for those living in this phase of life. It is sad to say but there are many millions of people who are in unfortunate circumstances today who are living this life, a life not much better than our ancestors thousands of years before.

2) Security: When we finally are able to transcend the survival state and get some material possesions the first thing that we want to do is protect it. When we have a a home, car, job and a family our natural instinct is to make sure that no one steals our clothes and harms our family.

Many people today live in total FEAR that they will lose their job, or that their partners will leave them and they find it hard to escape this level of conscousness. This is the ignorant state.

3) Show Off: Have you noticed what happens when someone is able to afford the best of the material world? Do you recognise those show offs that have been ‘handed’ all of the nice things that money can buy and a good family can support?

This is the phase that comes when we have no purpose, and are living a life of “motivation” not of “inspiration.” We are motivated by vanity and the material world’s Social Acceptance of us. This state is all about social acceptance and feelings of worthiness through material wealth.

It is more fullfilling to be EMPOWERED than to be Entitled.

4) Self Esteem: People who live at this higher level are most likely involved in some sort of community service. They are the givers of this world. They constantly help out those in need around them and it gives them a feeling of purpose which they enjoy.

But they are still self inclosed meaning that they still live in the 1st 3 states at some level.

5) Self Fullfillment: This level of enlightenment only comes once we shake of the “self orientated” nature of the first 4 character traits. People who are ‘Self Fullfilled’ are those that contribute at a higher level such as doing great things for the city or the state in which they live.

Self fullfillment can only come when you contribute to a cause that is higher than yourself.

In this state EVERYTHING is about living larger. And everyone around these individuals is impacted. The family members have more prestige, the friendships are more significant as these individuals live to a higher order.

6) Spiritual Actualisation: These are the great leaders of the world who focus on GLOBAL causes and services that effect whole countrys and the world. The people living in this state are the people who change the world. Think of Bill Gates, Mahatma Gandhi, Mother Terresa, Elvis Presley, Richad Branson, Oprah Winfrey.

Their legacy is that they changed the course of history and it is because they were ‘on purpose.’

When you reach levels 5 and 6 you are living your purpose in life because what you do each day ceases to be about just yourself. Where levels 1-4 are all self orientated, levels 5 and 6 are about “serving.” And that my friends is the answer to how you live a fullfilling life.

When you are Leading A Purpose Driven Life, it is because you care enough about humanity to deliver who you are to them. And that is what Dr DeMartini helps people to do… to find out WHO YOU ARE!

He helps you to find what it is that you were sent here to do so you can stop living life from the first 4 phases i.e the material world, and start to live from the 5th and 6th phases which is the ‘Inner World.’

His technique for helping you to discover your purpose is interesting and unique.

It is all about breaking down your fears that are holding you back in your life and to give yourself permission to shine. He teaches you to be a great builder AND destroyer of the transformational forces in your life so you can reach your purpose and make a difference to humanity.

The 3 Major Character Traits Of Leaders.

1) All the great leaders have had the ability to “IDENTIFY” what their core values are and then to live to them. They are able to prioritize their daily activity’s so they can work on what is highest to their values and they delegate the other tasks to those who do them based on their highest values.

Great leaders are also congruent with their highest values. You are either doing what you love or you are in love with what you do. The first love is living by your values and the other is changing your values to get by. Congruency is a MUST to leading a purpose driven life

2) The 2nd great trait that all the great leaders of history have in common is a “CLARITY OF VISION.” Those with a mission have a message and a vision that is clear and drives them to get out of bed each day.

When you start leading a purpose driven life you no longer need to be motivated because your values and your purpose inspire you.

3) And the 3rd major character trait of the great leaders is “CERTAINTY.” Leaders are certain. Have you ever followed a leader that was not sure where they were going? They wouldn’t be a leader for very long would they?

One way that you can have certainty in your life is to Learn To Ask Quality Questions. And through asking quality questions you will be better able to get inspired by your own life again.

So I am here to tell you friends, that I learnt all of that and much more in only 2 hours with Dr John DeMartini and if you ever get the chance to see him live then do it or go buy one of his books or dvd’s as it is an investment well spent.

This guy is a MASTER at helping you to discover your hidden potential, your highest values in life and then to encourage you to go and live them.

And when you are living at your highest values… you are leading a purpose driven life that brings you self fullfillment and spiritual actualisation and yes…. all of the wealth and abundance you could ever want and need.

So I got my hands on 2 tickets for his 1 day event “The New Psychology Of Success” in November… can’t wait!
